iPG-800 iPad App Review - Editor for Roland JX-8P - MIDIVERSE - TV

In this episode of MIDIVERSE-TV we take a look at the iPG-800 iPad application. This app replaces the rare and expensive Roland PG-800 editor, and at only a fraction of the cost.. it really is a no brainer. I am absolutely satisfied with the performance of the app.

Since my original purchase they've upgraded this app with the addition of a iPG-300 editor, which worked out great for me... As I own a Roland Alpha Juno 1 which uses the PG-300 editor.

The iPG-800 works with Roland JX-8P and MKS-70.
The iPG-300 works with Roland Alpha Juno and JX-3P (with kiwi midi upgrade).

Using Ableton Live as a multitimbral sound module - Tutorial - MIDIVERSE - TV

In this episode of MIDIVERSE TV we use Ableton Live as a multitimbral sound module, and sequence it externally from an Akai MPC1000. We assign different VST/AU virtual instruments onto different tracks and different midi channels in our Ableton Live file. Next we setup tracks on the MPC with different MIDI channels matching those that we already setup in Ableton Live. Finally the audio from the MPC and Ableton Live go into a line mixer, essentially treating Ableton Live like any other synth in the studio.

Roland JX-8P Analog Polyphonic Synthesizer Overview Video - MIDIVERSE - TV

In this episode of MIDIVERSE - TV we pair up a Roland JX-8P Polyphonic Analog Synthesizer with an Akai MPC 1000 for some MIDI sequencing. We record a MIDI pattern into the MPC 1000 sampler/sequencer and send it to the Roland, then we browse the 32 factory patches on the synth.

The next video on the Roland JX-8P we're going to be looking at the iPG-800 iPad app (that is essentially a replacement for the super rare and expensive PG-800), which allows for total control over the synthesizer. Be sure to check back for that one.
